2017 AFNR Extension Symposium

THEME: "Strengthening the Philippine Agriculture, Fishery, Forestry and Natural Resources (AFNR) Extension for Rural Transformation"


The emerging trends in extension and advisory services to enhance rural transformation in a globalized era pose opportunities and challenges to the Philippine Extension System.  To keep abreast with the changing conditions in the agriculture, fishery, forestry and natural resources (AFFNR) sectors, the Philippine Extension and Advisory Services Network will hold the 2017 AFFNR Extension Symposium at the Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City on October 2-5, 2017.  The Symposium aims to generate a healthy and productive exchange of new ideas and best extension practices to strengthen the governance, extension modalities and competencies of extension professionals and practitioners.

There will be plenary paper presentations and parallel technical sessions along the above sub-themes that will give an opportunity for participants from the national government, local government units, academe and the private sector to share their extension research results as well as best practices in extension.
 
This year’s Symposium will highlight the election of PhilEASNet’s new set of officers and the formal launching of the organization of its Regional Chapters, which will facilitate innovations to make the Philippine Extension System more efficient and effective.
 
OBJECTIVES
 
The Symposium aims to update and engage the extension professionals and practitioners in the discourse of the current issues and initiatives affecting theory and practice of extension in the country.  
 
Specifically, the symposium aims to promote best practices in extension governance, capability-building and extension modalities to enhance the competencies of extension professionals and practitioners to further strengthen the Philippine system of extension and advisory services.
